Welcome to the Frequently Asked Questions / Help Page. Here you will find answers to the many questions that you may have about our website.

Frequently Asked Questions Index:
11) How does the Rating System work?

1) What is the Canadian Bar Finder?
The Canadian Bar finder is an ever-expanding database of Canadian Bars. Our goal is to facilitate better communication between bars and the people. We hope to build our database to include every bar in Canada (we know that is a big task but we are up for the challenge). At the same time, we also hope to promote bars, pub crawls, and various events that are happening in Canada.

2) Don't bars already have websites?
Obviously some do, but a lot of bars still don't because they don't have one or many of the following things: 1) money, 2) time, 3) think it's worthwhile. In case anyone hasn't noticed, we live in a digital world now. At CBF we are creating a centralized site that you can come to and find any bar in Canada. Most bars that have websites don't really have the time to manage and / or maintain their websites properly, and normally they don't look as professional as they could. So why not let us do this for them?

3) Who can add bars to this website?
We are currently allowing anyone to submit a bar into our database. The information that you submit is reviewed to ensure accuracy and correctness. We are constantly monitoring our databases to ensure information is accurate and as precise as possible.

4) How do I promote my bar, my website or event on your website?
For all requests for promotion of events / banners / bars / websites / etc please contact barmaster@canadianbarfinder.com . We look forward to working with you. (Pricing varies depending on the request.)

5) I do not want my bar to be listed, can you please remove it?
Keep in mind that we are working WITH the bars and hope to generate business for them, and not against them. If you have any questions / comments / concerns and/or do not want your bar listed then please contact us as barmaster@canadianbarfinder.com and we will be glad to address your concerns.

6) What features will be added to the website?
There are many new and exciting features coming to the website, we are just taking our time to ensure that everything works perfectly. You can expect maps, comments, photos and other goodies in the near future.

7) How do I add my bar to the database?
You will see at the top of the website is a button called "CLICK HERE TO ADD YOUR BAR". To add your bar click on this button, then type in the corresponding information. The only required fields are the Bar Name, Province and City, the other fields are optional but we encourage you to input them for better accuracy and better promotion of your bar.

8) Why should I register as a user on this website?
If you register you will be able to rate bars, make comments and join the community of people. There will be special promotions and you will be eligible to receive various items for the bars depending on what is happening in the bar scene around your area. It is very easy and we will NOT send you any spam email or send your information to ANYONE at ALL! All information is kept private and your passwords are stored with a high level of encryption.

9) A part of the website is not working properly!
Please email barmaster@canadianbarfinder.com to inform of any problems with the website. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will fix it as soon as possible.

10) How does the Top 20 Bars in Canada work?
This section functions based on public opinion, and not by the creators of the Canadian Bar Finder. As much as we would like to promote the bars that we like the best, we try to be as fair as possible and leave this up to the public. The Top 20 Bars section is always dynamically changing based on what users rate bars as. If you want to make a difference then please vote for your favorite bars! 11) How does the Rating System work?

The Rating system works based on the following rules and guidelines:

1) Voting is open to the General Public.

2) Only 1 Vote per person can be cast. (If it is a CBF Member voting, then their vote is tracked via their account. If it is an anonymous user, their voite is tracked by their IP Address.)

3) That person can change their vote once it is made as many times as they want. (Note** No one can vote for a bar multiple times to increase the number of votes for a bar!!)

4) Voting values consist of 1 to 5, 1 being the worst and 5 being the best!

5) All votes by everyone are then taken into consideration and averaged to find the final vote value. This value is then displayed on each bar page.

6) The bars that are rated the best, and that have at least 20 Ratings already, have the ability to appear in the Top 20 Bars in Canada Section on the main page.
